Important Considerations for the UPSC 2025 exam

-There is a fixed number of attempts for different categories, as general category candidates are allowed six attempts to achieve their goal of becoming an IAS. 

-The number of attempts allowed for OBC candidates is nine, and there is no limit fixed for SC/ST candidates. 

– Students can download the e-Admit card for the preliminary examination three weeks before the exam.

Examination Structure of UPSC 2025

The UPSC exam is a prestigious exam for every aspiring student who dreams of becoming a civil servant. UPSC 2025 Exam pattern comprises three stages:

1. Preliminary Examination:

 – The preliminary exam consists of two objective-type papers.

– The preliminary exam is taken as a screening test as marks are not counted in the final merit. But there is a negative marking for incorrect answers.

(i) Both question papers will be of the objective type (multiple-choice questions), and each will be of two hours duration. 

(ii) The General Studies Paper-II of the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination will be a qualifying paper with minimum qualifying marks fixed at 33%. 

(iii) The question papers will be set both in Hindi and English. 

2. Mains Examination:

There are nine descriptive papers, which include two qualifying papers, one in an Indian language as selected by students and one in the English language.

– Seven papers are considered for merit; this covers subjects like essays, general studies, and optional subjects.

– Total marks in UPSC mains that are considered for merit are 1,750.

-The candidate will be asked questions on matters of general interest.
